Design your own jewelry to sell, without buying a single piece upfront

Last updated 2 October 2026

If you were looking to design your own jewelry to sell, you came to the right place. It is a very good business to be in right now, and you can do it with a print on demand provider like Ownprint: you design everything, you sell it in your own store, and we take care of the engraving, the packing and the shipping, straight to your customer, with your shop's name on the label.

Here is how it works. You design an engraved necklace, bracelet or keychain in our free editor, any design you want, for any niche you want, dog moms, nurses, couples, graduates, whatever you know how to sell to. You put it in your Etsy or Shopify store, or any other store you sell from, and we only make it once a customer has paid you. No subscription, no stock, nothing to buy up front.

And the package that arrives is yours, not ours. Three things make that happen. The message card: every piece ships in a gift box with a card inside it, right next to the jewelry, and that card is what the person receiving the gift reads. You design it in the editor, background, border, and the words, or you let the AI write the message for you, and it is often those words that sell the piece in the first place. The thank you card: an A5 glossy card that sits on top when your customer opens the package, before they even get to the gift box. Put your logo on it, a thank you, a discount for the next order, a QR code to your shop or your review page. You set it up once for your store and it goes into every order after that. And the box itself: if you want it, we foil-stamp your logo on the gift box, so from the outside in, everything says your shop.

What you can put your design on

Necklaces, bracelets and keychains, in different shapes and chain types. A coin, a heart or a tag on a chain. A horizontal bar, a vertical bar, or a 3D bar you can engrave on more than one side. Chain bracelets, and a leather bracelet for men. Keychains in the same shapes. Some of the necklaces come with a birthstone. All of it is 304L stainless steel, either plain or plated in 18k gold or 18k rose gold, so it does not tarnish and it is safe on skin. You can see all of them, with prices, in the catalog.

Your design goes on by laser engraving, front and back. The editor shows the charm at its real size with the engravable area marked out, so what you place on the screen is what ends up on the metal. It works in two layers. You, the seller, create the design: the artwork, a saying, a symbol, a layout, that is the product. Then your buyer adds their own personalization at checkout, a name, a date, a photo of their dog, their own words for the back, and we engrave the two together on the piece. The back engraving option is worth a second look, because it is an upsell. Based on our tests, about 55% of buyers add a back engraving when it is offered, and sellers charge $8 to $10 extra for it. We have seen print on demand jewelry sellers charge even more, successfully.

And if you do not have any design skills yet, that is fine too. There are more than 190 ready-made designs in the Design Vault, sorted by occasion, so you can start with a birthday piece or a memorial piece and change it until it is yours. There is also an AI design tool: you describe the idea, it draws it, you adjust.

What it costs you and what it sells for

Everything above is on the pricing page, in both currencies. Back engraving is $4 (€3.50) to add, and as said above, sellers charge $8 to $10 for it. Shipping is $7.90 (€6.95) for the first piece and $3.40 (€3) for every extra piece in the same order. Bracelets usually list at $45 and up, keychains at $39 and up. Dollar figures are approximate, at the European Central Bank rate.

How you actually build a product

The editor walks you through five steps. It saves as you go, so you can leave and come back.

  1. Design. Drag your artwork onto the charm. The canvas is the real size of the piece.
  2. Message card. Every order goes out with a card in the gift box. You can write it yourself, or leave it to the buyer at checkout, which is usually the point: it is their words to the person they are buying for.
  3. Mockups. You get store-ready photos of your design in all three platings, the kind you would otherwise pay a photographer for. If you want a different scene, one click lets AI redo the background while your design stays exactly as it is.
  4. Listing. Etsy is a search engine, so the title and tags matter. The listing optimizer asks you four questions and writes the title, the description and all 13 tags from real buyer searches.
  5. Pricing. You type your price and see your cost, your price and your profit next to each other.

Designing a product and pushing it to your store takes minutes, not days. If you want to see it done, the first product walkthrough is a step by step guide to pushing your first product in minutes.

Where it sells

Connect your Etsy shop, your Shopify store, WooCommerce, Squarespace or another store you sell from, and the product publishes straight into it, personalization fields included. Your buyer types the name, the date, the engraving text, picks the plating or the birthstone, and the order lands with us with all of that attached. You do not copy anything from messages. If your store is not one we connect to yet, you download the mockups, list the product yourself, and place the orders by hand when they come in.

People who did exactly this

Lisa started with no experience and no sales. Four years later her shop has passed 9,000 orders and does between $15,000 and $50,000 a month. Andrea and her husband found Ownprint in an Instagram Reel and are at 3,548 orders and €121,907 since. Lily is a youth minister who turned a question parents kept asking her into 2,000 orders of Saint necklaces. They all sat down on camera and told the story themselves, with their own numbers, on the success stories page.

What happens after someone orders

We engrave it ourselves, in Rotterdam for European customers and in California for customers in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. It goes into a gift box with foil wrap, a wax melt, a cleaning cloth and your cards, and ships with tracking within 2 to 5 business days. Your shop's name is on the label. Nothing of ours is in the box, and the unboxing page shows you exactly what your customer opens.

The questions we get asked most

Do I have to order samples?

No. You can if you want to see the quality for yourself, and many sellers order one of their first design. It is a normal order at the base price plus shipping, placed as a manual order from your dashboard.

Is there a minimum?

No. One order is one piece. The only minimum anywhere on the platform is the 48-box minimum for gift boxes with your logo stamped on them, and that is optional.

Can I put my own branding on it?

Yes. Your logo on the gift box, your thank you card, your message card, your shop on the label. It is all on the branded packaging page.

What does the platform cost?

Nothing. No subscription, no monthly fee. You pay the base price of an order after your customer has paid you, and that is the only money that ever moves.

Try it with one piece.
